Knowing Bodybuilding Anatomy

The bodybuilding anatomy allows a person to know the allocation of muscles in his or her body and what factors simulate maximum growth. It is crucial for beginner bodybuilders to know the anatomy of their body.

Look at your neck. Two basic neck muscles are crucial for bodybuilding. The first is the upper trapezius which runs down the back of your neck from the nape of the neck to the shoulder. The second muscle is the levator scapulae. It runs next to the first five or six cervical vertebrae in your neck.

The trapezius muscles are placed down your back from the nape of your neck to the waist on either side of the spine. Bodybuilders call these muscles “the trap muscles”.

The deltoids are the muscles of your shoulders. The anterior delt is located in the front part of the shoulder, the middle delt runs down the side of the shoulder and the posterior deltoid muscles are at the back part of the shoulder. The rotator cuff muscle is located below the anterior delt from the armpit straight out.

The pectoral muscles are located in your chest.

In the stomach area you have abs.

In the front of your legs you have the quadriceps (quads). The muscles in the back of the legs are located in the calf, or lower leg. The hamstring is in the upper leg.

The other major groups of muscles which are also very important are glutes (buttocks), the lats located in upper back, and the lower trap muscles (the lower back).

When you start your bodybuilding program it is very beneficial to know your anatomy. This can make the muscle growth more effective. If you memorize the various muscle groups in your body you will be able to build them properly and pay much attention to them during your bodybuilding training. You will be able to build a perfect body if you study the human anatomy.
