The most famous bodybuilding trainer Vince, "The Iron Guru" Gironda became legendary for his saying, "Bodybuilding is 80% nutrition!" However many people question whether it is true or it is just another bodybuilding myth.
The main goal is that you shouldn’t separate nutrition and training. These factors should work together and help you in achieving your goals: gaining muscle, losing fat, athletic conditioning and others. You won’t be able to get maximum results if you don’t consider both nutrition and workout program.
In fact it is almost impossible to measure which is more important.
Both nutrition and training are very crucial. However at the certain level of your workout progress you can concentrate more on one component over the other in order to provide larger improvements.
In case if you are a beginner and you don’t have necessary nutritional knowledge it will be more important to master your nutrition than your training program. A poor diet plan can decrease your fat loss and muscle building progress.
For instance, if you skip your meals and eat only 2 times a day raising the frequency of meal intake up to 5-6 smaller meals per day can change your physique very fast.
In case if you take a lot of processed fats and refined sugars they should be replaced by healthy fats such as the omega threes that are present in fish and unrefined foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains which can improve your physique.
If you are on a low-protein diet you can eat a complete protein food like chicken breast, fish or egg whites at each meal. This will stimulate muscle growth.
Your intense training routine won’t bring you great results if you don’t have proper nutrition. If you are a beginner (or advanced trainee who is still eating poorly), the nutritional changes will improve your training results.
It is uncommon for the muscular and nervous systems of a beginner to exercise. But it is known that any training program will lead to muscle growth and the increase of strength because such workout is a shock for the untrained body.
